“Todo está bien” is simply one of Timba’s best new releases by any group in the last decade. It has variety, melodic lines that will not bore musicians, dance slots that will keep “Timberos” on the dance floor and an intense energy level that lacks so many recordings in all genres today. Mr. Piloto has always put so much music in his recordings and presentations, and some people have described Klimax as just for the unconditional lovers, but I would not hesitate to use this to present the Timba to a new listener, not because it is simple, but precisely Why is not it. At this moment, Everything is well – has been – justifiably – nominated for the category Popular dance music in Cubadisco 2013.

The only major diversion of Timba in this recording is a Cuban Funk version of Michael Jackson’s song, Black or White (with english lyrics). This writer is not a big fan of Michael Jackson, but if Michael had been so funky ….. This group could easily hold his own next to Tower of Power, Mandrill or Parliament / Funkadelic if they wanted.

Mr. Pilot: Usually, I do not really like the Salsa / Timba versions of American songs, but if you want to bring us more of Funk, by all means, please do so.

The songs “Regresa” and “Quiero salir esta noche contigo” will be totally accessible to the Salseros of North America. One must remember is a bolero with some modern aspects and an appearance of Josefina Barretto (voice). Tribute to Michel Legrand is a Cuban perspective on some themes of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. The other six tracks are Timba solid, and we mean SOLID. There are some additional details, such as electric guitars in “Todo está bien”, but this recording is the real thing. If it is not already in your collection, why not?
